PRACTICE UPDATE
We are continuing to run the surgery a little differently than compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic. We are no longer offering pre-bookable routine GP appointments and instead there are other ways in which you can reach your GP and please be aware that the GP may request that you visit the practice after speaking to them on the phone.
Routine GP Phone Calls
Our team have a limited amount of daily routine phonecalls. These are booked on a first come, first served basis between 8.30-10.00am; please note this call list can fill up prior to the 10.00am deadline. Our team are trained to ask you various questions, please answer these openly and honestly and respect that the GPs have directed our staff to ask these questions and need the information to help you. Someone from the team will call you back throughout the day.
Triage Telephone Line
Our triage telephone line is available for urgent medical queries only. Again, our team will ask you various questions that the GPs have asked them too. Please answer openly, honestly and do not refuse as we need this information. If our call lists are full, and your query is not a medical emergency, our team will advise you to ring the next working day.
Springfield Road and Riverdale Surgeries have a ZERO TOLERANCE abuse policy. Our staff are working exceptionally hard during this difficult period to provide a safe service. Abuse of any kind, either verbal or physical to our staff will not be tolerated by the practice.

COVID-19 - MASKS / FACE COVERINGS
From 10 August 2020 it is mandatory to wear a face covering in any indoor public space where it is not possible to maintain social distancing.
FOR MORE INFORMATION REGARDING FACE COVERINGS PLEASE CLICK HERE
The Reception Team have been asked to ensure that all patients attending the surgery wear a face covering at all times when inside the surgery building. This same obligation applies to staff that you may come into contact with when you move through the building.
The surgery has an obligation to all staff and patients to provide a safe environment to visit or to work in.
There are only a small number of exemptions from this requirement. These include:
- Children under the age of 13
- Patients with a sever and chronic respiratory illness
- Patients who have an enduring mental illness that means distress would be caused if asked to wear a facemask.
There is no need to get a letter from a doctor or government to show that you do not need to wear a face covering. If you have a condition which means you cannot wear a face covering you only need to say, if asked, that you cannot wear a face covering because you are exempt.
As the Clinical Team are working in very close proximity to patients we will not provide face to face access to patients who refuse to wear a face covering; unless you meet one of the limited exemptions above. If you are exempt, please advise a Receptionist / Dr at the time of booking your appointment as alternative arrangements will be made for your appointment.
If you have forgotten to bring your face covering with you, please let a Receptionist know and we will provide you with a disposal face mask.
It is important that we all respect one another and remember that the reasons for not wearing a face covering may not always be visible.
