Welcome to our practice, which operates from two sites, Springfield Road and Riverdale Surgeries. We hope this website will give you useful information of the services we offer.

We have added some online services: our patients can now order repeat prescriptions online by clicking here. To register for these services, please ask a member of practice staff for more information.

We have  received a small number of Covid-19 vaccine and a member of staff will be contacting ELIGIBLE patients

The practice is receiving an extremely high number of calls with queries relating to appointments for the vaccine. Please wait until contacted by the Practice to be offered an appointment.

YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY LETTER OR TELEPHONE CALL IF YOU ARE IN THIS GROUP ONCE WE HAVE SECURED VACCINATIONS!

We look forward to vaccinating everyone eligible for the vaccine but we must follow guidelines and await delivery of the vaccine. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.


REGIONAL COVID-19 VACCINATION CENTRES

If you are eligible, you can book your COVID-19 vaccination online.

Am I eligible to use the vaccine service?

If you live in Northern Ireland and are entitled to treatment by the health service you can book a COVID-19 vaccination online if you have been invited to do so.

The invitation may have come from:

  • public messages to the following groups:
    • those aged 65 and older at 31st March 2021
    • those who are clinically extremely vulnerable aged 16 and over at 31st March 2021 and have a shielding letter
  • those aged 60 – 64 at 31st March 2021
  • those who have an underlying condition aged 16 -17 at 31st March , who have a GP letter
  • a letter from your hospital specialist or your GP
  • an email or letter from your employer

Due to the Coronavirus Outbreak, how you contact your GP will be different at the moment.  This is to limit face-to-face contact where possible and help stop the spread of coronavirus.  Face-to-face appointments are available to all patients, but you will be triaged over the phone to assess your condition and what would be most appropriate for you.

 Public Health recommends that the following general cold and flu precautions are taken to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or
  • See Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not
  • See hand washing guidance.
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.

Coronavirus - Self Isolation

By law, medical evidence is not required for the first 7 days of sickness (that is, employees can self-certify). After 7 days, it is for the employer to determine what evidence they require, if any, from the employee. Self Certificate

We continue to urge employers to respect the need to stay at home where they are following government advice to do so and to show flexibility in the evidence they require from employees.

If evidence is required to cover beyond the first 7 days of absence then employees can get an isolation note from NHS 111 online


Coronavirus Testing

Who can ask for a test

You can ask for a test:

  • for yourself, if you have coronavirus symptoms now (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)
  • for someone you live with, if they have coronavirus symptoms

This service is for people in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The tests are not suitable for children under 5 years old. 

If you're asking for a test for someone else and the person is aged 13 or over, check they're happy for you to ask for a test for them.

When to ask for a test

You need to have the test in the first 5 days of having symptoms.

It's best to ask for the test in the first 3 days, as it may take a day or two to arrange.

What the test involves

The test usually involves taking a swab of the inside of your nose and the back of your throat, using a long cotton bud.

You can do the swab yourself or someone can do it for you.

Will I get a test?

There is very high demand for tests at the moment.

People in hospital and essential workers, including NHS and social care staff, are getting priority.

Even if you are successful in requesting a test, we cannot guarantee you will get one. It depends on how many tests are available each day in different parts of the country.

How do I ask for a test?

You can ask for a test online.

We'll ask you:

  • for details such as your name, mobile phone number and address


AccuRx Texting Service

For your convenience we now use AccuRX, a secure text service, to contact our patients.

The message is sent directly from a member of the Springfield/Riverdale Surgery to the mobile number held on your record individual medical record.  This provides instant communication from the clinical team to our patients.  A copy of this text is automatically retained on you notes.

Springfield/Riverdale surgery will always be at the bottom of the message.
